What is Avalanche?
Avalanche is a highly scalable, layer-1 blockchain platform designed to combine the security of Nakamoto consensus with the speed and flexibility of classical consensus protocols. Its primary goal is to provide a unified ecosystem for launching custom, interoperable blockchains and decentralized applications (dApps) that can process transactions in under one second.
The Architecture:
Avalanche's unique structure consists of three integrated blockchains: the Exchange Chain (X-Chain) for creating and trading assets, the Contract Chain (C-Chain) for smart contracts (EVM-compatible), and the Platform Chain (P-Chain) for coordinating validators and creating subnets. This tri-chain design separates functions for optimal performance. Its Snowman consensus protocol enables thousands of validators to achieve finality rapidly with minimal energy consumption.

Tokenomics & Security: The native token, AVAX, is used for fees, staking, and securing the network. It has a capped supply and a deflationary mechanism where all fees are burned, reducing total supply over time.
Avalanche positions itself as a flexible, high-performance foundation for the next wave of Web3 innovation, directly competing with Ethereum and other layer-1 platforms.
