Zcash has introduced a new network security funding mechanism through its NU7 upgrade, marking a major development for long-term sustainability. The upgrade introduces a system that redirects transaction fees toward future mining rewards without increasing ZEC’s maximum supply. According to Shielded Labs contributor Jason McGee, the Network Sustainability Mechanism (NSM) represents the organization’s first major mainnet deployment. McGee announced the planned activation in a November 5 post, outlining changes to Zcash’s long-term security funding.
