Wrapped BNB (WBNB) is the BEP-20 tokenized representation of BNB on BNB Smart Chain. It is designed to maintain a 1:1 relationship with native BNB while making BNB compatible with smart contracts and decentralized applications that use standardized token interfaces. Native BNB is the blockchain’s built-in asset. It is used for transaction fees, staking-related functions, and network settlement. WBNB, by contrast, is a smart-contract token that implements the BEP-20 standard, the BNB Chain equivalent of Ethereum’s ERC-20 standard.
