Texas brothers plead guilty to armed crypto kidnapping
Two brothers from Waller, Texas, who held a Minnesota family at gunpoint for more than eight hours and forced the father to hand over $8 million in cryptocurrency, pled guilty to their crimes in a Federal Court on Thursday. The duo’s case is part of a global surge in violent crypto theft that has prompted insurers to offer kidnap-and-ransom policies and pushed prosecutors toward harsher federal sentences for perpetrators.
