DOJ: Singapore man admits leading $245 million bitcoin theft ring
Malone Lam, a 22-year-old Miami resident originally from Singapore, pleaded guilty this week to orchestrating one of the largest bitcoin thefts on record, authorities confirmed. The US Department of Justice reported that Lam led a global criminal network responsible for stealing 4,100 bitcoins, valued at over $230 million at the time of the theft. The illicit activities spanned from October 2023 through at least May 2025, targeting cryptocurrency users worldwide.
