Connecticut Attorney General Warns Against Unregulated Offshore DeFi Exchanges
Connecticut Attorney General William Tong has issued an consumer alert warning residents about unregulated, offshore “decentralized finance” (DeFi) cryptocurrency exchanges, after at least one state consumer was deceived into depositing $200,000 that is now unrecoverable. Joined by Banking Commissioner Jorge Perez, the September 3, 2026 alert names GMX, Gains Network, dYdX, Aevo, Drift Protocol, Vertex Protocol, and Hyperliquid as platforms operating outside state and federal safeguards.
