US cryptocurrency exchange giant Coinbase is simplifying access for residents in Mainland China by allowing them to set up accounts using local identification cards and addresses. This step significantly eases the identity verification process for new users in the region. Coinbase, headquartered in the United States, has updated its identity verification criteria for prospective users in Mainland China. Residents can now register by presenting a Chinese national ID card and their local address, rather than a passport and Hong Kong residency documents, which were previously needed and posed a barrier for many.
