Crypto derivatives platform BitMEX has announced it will cease operations on September 23, 2026, at 04:00 UTC, permanently closing one of the industry’s most influential exchanges. BitMEX has already stopped accepting new account registrations as part of its wind-down plan. HDR Global Trading Limited, which owns and operates BitMEX, explained that this was a difficult step, citing both internal considerations and shifts in the wider cryptocurrency landscape.
