Agentic payment activity on Base has crossed 100 million x402 transactions, marking one of the clearest signs yet that AI agents are starting to move real money onchain. The growth came through Coinbase’s x402 payment protocol, which lets software agents pay for online resources directly through web requests. Instead of a human opening an account, adding a card or topping up prepaid credits, an agent can receive a payment request, send a stablecoin transaction and access the service.
