What Happened

The green arrives on day three of Bitcoin ETF selling, which is where the last selling streak stopped.

1. September Never Repeated August’s Buying

Spot Bitcoin ETFs sold for three sessions running, $46.65 million Tuesday, $120.24 million Wednesday and $282.56 million Thursday. Each day was bigger than the last, $449.45 million in total.

Market Context

The crypto market trades at $2.61 trillion, up 0.66% since Thursday’s close after dipping under $2.59 trillion overnight. It is still down 5.68% since September 3.

August looked nothing like this, with single days of $606.29 million and $517.19 million coming in. September produced one, $730.87 million on the 3rd, the day the market topped. Nothing strong followed it.

August streak is the one that turned. Bitcoin bottomed three sessions after that streak, then gained 24.62% in five days. July did not work that way, with price drifting for three weeks first. The warning is that this streak has pulled out 1.8 times what August’s did.

Price has slid inside a falling channel since August 19, and today’s move makes it head towards the upper line. Above $0.53 opens $0.66. Failing there leaves $0.46, and losing that projects $0.34, another 31%. Selling volume sits far below the August 19 spike, so neither side is pushing hard.

Why It Matters

Fund assets: $97.49 billion, now 6.28% of all Bitcoin, highlighting impact

Details

Three days: $449.45 million out, each day worse than the last

Thursday alone: $282.56 million, six times Tuesday’s figure

2. The Last Streak Like This Ended Three Sessions From a Bottom

Which is why day three matters. The funds sold four days in late July, $526.65 million out, with Bitcoin down 4.24%. They sold three days in mid-August, $249.92 million out with Bitcoin down 0.76%.

$2.73 trillion now reads as a double top, twin peaks with $2.59 trillion sitting as the make-or-break level. That line broke overnight and recovered. A close below it opens $2.50 trillion then $2.43 trillion, another 6.56%, while reclaiming $2.73 trillion cancels the pattern.

Late July: four days, $526.65 million out, then three weeks of drift

Mid-August: three days, $249.92 million out, then up 24.62% in five days

This week: three days, $449.45 million out, Bitcoin down 2.55%

Coin Spotlight: Bitway (BTW)

Bitway (BTW), a DeFi token, rose 11.1% in a day to $0.49 and is up 141.6% over a month, the 64th largest coin at press time.

Move: up 11.1% in a day, 141.6% in a month

Pattern: Active falling channel, needs buying support to break

Levels: $0.53 turns it up, $0.46 then $0.34 below

Analyst’s View: Rate traders now put next Wednesday’s hike at 69.6%, against 48.4% a month ago. If the ETF selling runs on past today’s upcoming inflation print, the funds are pricing that same path, and today’s bounce is borrowed time.
