What Happened

Fund buying has shrunk for three straight days, and crypto’s cash pool is still refilling.

1. ETF Buying Shrank for Three Straight Days

Spot Bitcoin ETFs took in $998.95 million on September 21, the day the Bitcoin breakout began. Each session since has brought less, with $714.75 million on September 22, $346.98 million on September 23 and $190.65 million on September 24.

Market Context

The crypto market trades at $2.84 trillion, down 0.31% since yesterday’s close, as fresh money keeps slowing.

Supply did grow 0.9% this week, the fastest weekly rise since early May. Yet, with thin weekend trading ahead, buyers have less cash to absorb any selling.

The market needs to hold $2.79 trillion, the base of its latest swing. Holding there keeps a path open to $2.89 trillion, the first sign of strength, and then $2.95 trillion, where the rally stalled on September 23.

Weekend ahead: thinner trading, less cushion

Bitway (BTW) fell about 14% over 24 hours to near $0.92, a day after setting a record high near $1.09. Yesterday’s market update flagged that its rally ran on fading volume, and the pullback followed.

The chart could still form a bull flag, a pause after a sharp run that often resolves higher. The climb since August 8 is the pole. But buying volume has faded since late August, and a flag needs buyers to break out. Selling volume is also light, which helps the $0.894 floor hold.

Breakout trigger: daily close above $0.97, about 5% away, on rising volume

Why It Matters

That is an 81% drop in three sessions. The funds are still buying, but at a fraction of the pace, ahead of August inflation data on September 30. That report includes a measurement change that economists expect to pull inflation lower.

Stablecoins are the digital dollars traders hold before buying crypto. Their supply stands at $312.30 billion, still $8.60 billion below the May 17 peak, according to DefiLlama. It fell to $305.20 billion by August 3 and has won back less than half of that drop.

Stablecoin supply: $312.3 billion, $8.6 billion short of May

Weekly change: up 0.9%, best since early May

Details

September 21: $999 million, the peak day

September 24: $191 million, 81% lower

Next test: August inflation data on September 30, explain the caution

2. Crypto’s Cash Pool Is Still Below Its Peak

Coin Spotlight: Bitway (BTW)

Drop: about 14% in a day, after a record high

Floors: $0.89, then $0.76, with $0.56 as the possible pattern invalidation line

Analyst’s View: Fund buying is still positive but shrinking every session. A daily close above $2.89 trillion before the September 30 inflation data would show buyers returning, while losing $2.79 trillion opens room for a deeper drop.
